Caribe stresses the importance of giving back to the community. Various activities are held throughout the year to allow our children to experience the joy of giving and to emphasize the impact someone can make "Beyond the Game".
Annual Food and Toy Drives
The children donate toys and clothing during the Christmas season and deliver the items to local shelters and food pantries. Caribe also provides turkeys during Thanksgiving to members in need.
Helping Hands
In October 2010, the Bridgeport Caribe Youth League held the A.J. Saez Day. Earlier in the year, A.J., a participant in our Baseball League, was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia and needed a matching bone marrow donor. Over 70 parents and volunteers registered to become bone marrow donors, and proceeds from the day’s event were donated to the family. This is the spirit exhibited at Caribe, where we are all “family”.
Park Cleanup
Youngsters participate in various city cleanups, including Seaside Park, where three Caribe trees are planted.
PR Day Parade
For the past seven years the youngsters have participated in the Fairfield County Puerto Rican Day Parade. It provides them the opportunity to learn and experience some of the culture of Puerto Rico.
