Disciplinary Guidelines:
Enforcement of playing rules at BCYL games shall be the sole responsibility of the umpire(s) assigned to the game. Immediate enforcement of additional BCYL conduct rules shall be the responsibility of either the umpire assigned to the game, a coach, league official or BCYL Division Coordinator at the game in question.
Violations of conduct rules for coaches, fans and players include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Fighting
- Foul language
- Derogatory remarks made to umpires, coaches or League officials
- Threats, either verbal or gestures
- Improper or disruptive conduct in the dugouts or on the fields
- Cheating or fraud of any kind
- Damaging or destruction of League or City property
- Continued use of improper equipment or wearing of an improper uniform after being warned
- Actions or behavior that may be considered detrimental to the League
Violation of any of the following prohibitions will result in immediate suspension, pending a Disciplinary Committee investigation.
- Fighting or threatening behavior.
- Repeated aggressive and argumentative behavior during League games.
- Consumption of alcoholic beverages and/or narcotic intoxicants prior and during League games or functions. This prohibition does not include League sponsored adult social functions.
Thus, if a coach, player, or fan is ejected from a game for any of the aforementioned violations, he/she must leave the playing field immediately, and leave the park within 10 minutes of the ejection. A coach or fan can only return to the park to pick up a player once the game is completed. Failure to act accordingly will result in the forfeiture of the game and suspension from the league for the rest of the season.
Suspension or Termination:
In addition to ejection from the game, the coach, player and/or fan will receive the following suspension and penalties:
| Warnings Will Be in writing |
| Level 1: |
Suspension for the next team game. |
| Level 2: |
Suspension for one calendar week and the suspension of one game of the child of the coach, parent, or guardian involved. |
| Level 3: |
Suspension for the remainder of the season. |
| Level 4: |
Lifetime expulsion from all BCYL leagues. |
It should be noted that a one-time, severe violation of any rule of conduct maybe sufficient to result in expulsion from the League.
If the offense occurs in the last game of the season, the proscribed suspension will be effective for the following season or the next season the violator participates in. |
